CARDET welcomes new and existing readers to the fifth newsletter issued within the project Raising Awareness on Development Cooperation (RADC). This newsletter is published every four months and contains information related to Development Cooperation and Global Education. In the past few months CARDET has been quite active in reviewing the online learning platform and the relevant MDG modules through a series of pilot implementations and workshops. Currently, the online platform is at the last stage of development before its official launch. Additionally, three projects funded by the Solidarity Funds are almost completed and CARDET presented their preliminary outcomes in a Press Conference on June 15, 2011. CARDET also participated in a series of local and international events related to Development Policies and Development Cooperation. Specifically, our participation in the Regional Consultation Meeting of the Commonwealth People's Forum 2011 and in the Cyprus NGO Fair 2011 was of significant importance. In both events, CARDET disseminated information about the RADC project and raised awareness on issues related to Development Cooperation. Furthermore, we have been working on other local and European projects, such as the Lifelong Learning Programme "Financial Literacy Competencies for Adult Learners", for which a Gap Analysis Report on Financial Literacy in Cyprus was recently drafted. We hope that this periodic publication provides a venue for collaboration among NGOs, Universities, and individuals in order to engage in the Development Cooperation debate and positively influence the ongoing efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
Warm Regards, Charalambos Vrasidas |
